Family To Sue Driver Who Plowed Into Homestead Valentine’s Day Stand, Killing Toddler

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The family of a young boy who was killed when a car plowed into a roadside tent selling Valentine’s Day gifts plans to file two lawsuits.

The parents of Anthony Rojo De Leon will hold a news conference Wednesday where they are expected to announce lawsuits against the driver of the Dodge Charger, Hanskabell Amargos, and his employer, and owner of the car, Spitzer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (Spitzer Automotive).

Anhtony Rojo De Leon (Source: Rojo De Leon Family)

The deadly crash happened last Friday, Valentine’s Day. Police said the driver, Amargos, lost control as the vehicle was headed north in 300th block US 1 and plowed into the roadside stand. The three-year-old boy was pinned under the car.

Good Samaritans leaped into action to try and save him.

Alex Correa, a mechanic who was working across the street, was one of the people who ran over to help.

“All the people just trying to lift the car. One guy got a pipe, I don’t know from where he put it under and that helped a little bit. We all just lift on the passenger side,” Correa said at the time.

They were able to pull the boy out. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center where he died.

The Florida Highway Patrol said charges against Amargos are pending.

But what’s even more interesting is that Valentine’s Day actually originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast honoring the early saints named Valentinus. Take a look at our insight report for more shopping trends and historical facts:

Valentine’s Day for Single Girls

For most people, being alone on Valentine’s Day is simply no fun. Women especially find being alone on Valentine’s Day to be depressing and lonely. However, just because you are not in a relationship does not mean you can’t have a good time on Valentine’s Day. With a little creativity, single girls can have a great Valentine’s Day that they will remember for years and years. In fact they may find they have a better time when they are single on Valentine’s Day than they do when they are in a relationship. This article will offer a few tips for how single girls can have a great time on Valentine’s Day.

Calling up your other single friends and going dancing is a great way for a single girl to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style. You and your friends can get dressed up and head out to a local nightclub together to spend the evening dancing. Many women will actually find they have a better time doing this than going dancing with their boyfriends because their friends are more likely to want to dance all night long. When they go out with a boyfriend the boyfriend may want to spend more time eating or drinking than he wants to spend on the dance floor. However, single girls who are out on the town often spend hours and hours dancing when they go out and barely take a break all evening.

Another fun idea for single girls on Valentine’s Day is to host a movie night at your place. You can invite over all of your single friends and rent a few romantic comedies. Instead of being sad and depressed you and your friends can watch the movies and make fun of all of the couples in the movie. It may not be the nicest or the most mature thing to do but it will help to prevent you and your friends from feeling depressed during the evening. Or if you prefer you can rent other types of movies such as horror movies or comedies. These will help to keep your mind of the fact that you are single on Valentine’s Day.

Single girls on Valentine’s Day can also have a great time by organizing a matchmaking game. You can call up all of your single friends and ask each of them to bring a single guy to your house for a get together. You can serve light appetizers and have music playing to keep the guests entertained. You can also purchase board games designed for use by couples and match up your single couples to play the game. Answering the questions will probably be pretty hard because the couples will not really know each other but it will be a fun way for some of your single friends and the friends of your friends to get to know each other.

Another way for single girls to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to simply go out to dinner. Restaurants can be extremely crowded on Valentine’s Day because going out to dinner is a very popular idea for couples. However, even single girls have to eat on Valentine’s Day. You and your single friends can plan ahead and make reservations for dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in town. You will likely be surrounded by couples celebrating Valentine’s Day but it does not mean you still can’t have a good time. Get all dressed up and maybe even organize an outing to a spa beforehand so you and all your friends can get manicures and pedicures before you head out for the evening. This will help to make your dinner together even more fun because you will have a great bonding experience beforehand. While you are out to dinner with your single friends, start out with some great appetizers, order a few great dishes to share and don’t forget to finish your meal with an awesome dessert. Leave the dinners of salad and water to your friends who are trying to impress their dates and feel free to indulge in some great food while you are out with your single friends.

Style Scenario – Valentine’s Day 2020: Out on the Town

Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head here to learn more.

What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and three style scenarios will be tackled in the next few days (going out, staying in, & staying in solo). Going for a sharp look here that leans simple instead of flashy. That way, your date will keep their eyes on you, & not your flair. Also, before you make those fancy restaurant reservations, maybe weigh the pros & cons of dinner out on Valentine’s. (Top photo credit)

Style Scenario - Valentine’s Day 2020: Out on the Town

The Suit: Suitsupply Napoli in Dark Grey – $399. This is a night out on the town, for Valentine’s Day. Your date deserves your best look. Suit up! And Suitsupply’s Napoli continues to be one of the best bang for the buck suits out there. Italian wools, half canvas construction, ships and returns for free… the works.

The Shirt: Nordstrom Smartcare Trim Fit Herringbone Dress Shirt in Blue – $69.50. A little bit of subtle texture to balance out the solid charcoal of the suit. Also ships and returns for free.

The Coat: Spier & Mackay Camel Wool/Cashmere Overcoat – $319 ($398)Or, whatever topcoat or mac you happen to favor. Just skip the ski jackets. This one is just about sold out. But that’ll happen, being that we’re halfway through February.

The Pocket Square: TheTieBar Navy Domino Paisley – $14. Show just a sliver to add some visual texture and interest to a more monochrome outfit.

The Watch: Seiko Chronograph – $140Tieless with a suit can look great when balanced out with a busier looking watch. The blue dial and blue strap is reminiscent of the Tag Heuer Monaco… minus the thousands upon thousands of dollars of cost.

The Socks: Nordstrom Over the Calf Wool Socks in Charcoal – $14.50. Yes. These again. Still. They’re that good.

The Belt: Nordstrom Men’s Shop Reversible Leather Belt – $49.50. Or, whatever your preferred sleek dress belt happens to be. This one is a brown on one side, black on the other combo. Ships and returns for free.

The Shoes: To Boot New York Wingtip Oxfords – $189.97 ($395). Yes you can wear dark brown shoes with a charcoal suit (just look at the Suitsupply site, that’s what they default to for modeling their charcoal stuff). And while most shoe-hogs view TBNY as overpriced at retail, just under $190 seems like a good deal. Made in Italy, pretty sure they’re blake stitched (so super flexible and lighter in weight), and with some thin rubber traction on the bottom, you’re less likely to end up on your backside. It’s still slippery out there after all.

The Gift: Paloma Picasso Olive Leaf Pendant – $185If your date happens to be a lady, and you want to give her something shiny without going over the top, try a delicate piece of jewelry. If you’ve got a local, independent artisan shop nearby, take a stroll through there. Lots of cities have terrific enclaves of artists who make classic jewelry. (Think clean, small stuff. Not big and clunky.) If that’s not the case where you live, then consider this simple, understated-but-classy necklace from Tiffany.  (Just be sure she knows it’s not an engagement ring. Maybe gift it before going out? Perfect for dressing up or down.)

The Soundtrack for the drive (if you’re driving): Allen Stone “Building Balance” – $12. The perfect soundtrack for your drive to and from your dinner destination; Allen Stone’s voice is smooth and soulful, and this album will definitely set the mood for the evening.

The Best Sex Toys to Romance Yourself with This V-Day and Beyond

(Photo: Stocksy)

If Lizzo is right and we really are our own soulmates, it’s time to seriously re-evaluate the way we’re getting ourselves off. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there’s really no better time to make a date night with yourself and do some, ahem, field research.

“Your sexual pleasure is a journey, not a destination,” says Toronto-based sexual health and consent educator Samantha Bitty. “What got you off in 2010 might not get you off in 2020.” Translation: try new things.

It’s also important to rethink what self-pleasuring really means for you, she stresses. When we think about masturbation, we often only think about genitals, says Bitty, but there are so many other erogenous zones on the body to explore. Another major reason why society needs to broaden its definition of self-pleasuring: For many folks, including some people living with physical disabilities, those who have experienced sexual trauma or body dysmorphia, or who are undergoing surgeries, genitalia isn’t a place associated with pleasure.

“Maybe brushing your hair feels good, or touching your mouth, nipples, elbows or knees,” Bitty says. Don’t be afraid to explore different stimuli, too, like feathers or clamps. “I invite everyone to just feel themselves up and see what actually turns you on. The same way we receive messages saying ‘don’t do it,’ we can also get messages from our bodies saying ‘this is how you do it.’”

Masturbation is also key to consent culture, says Bitty. According to Planned Parenthood, touching yourself helps you figure out what you like sexually, which then helps you to more easily identify if something isn’t right for you in a partnered situation. Plus, research shows that masturbation helps you sleep better, reduces stress and improves your self-esteem.

To avoid getting bored with your self-satisfaction routine, keep things exciting! If you’ve had the same vibrator for 15 years, you may be missing out (technology has come a long way, friends).
