Take a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale. Kerry Washington's garden yoga series is a slice of mindfulness in the middle of the day.
The "Little Fires Everywhere" star hosted an Instagram Live with fellow actor (and her "Scandal" costar) Tony Goldwyn, to raise money for Black Voters Matter, an organization dedicated to expanding Black voter engagement and political capital. The award-winning actress wants to, quite literally, move you to go out and vote.
"Tony Goldwyn and I might have played a President and a Fixer on TV…but we can't save the day. You can!" the caption read. "YOU have the power to be the hero of your community. YOU can create change. YOU can make sure that your representatives actually represent you and your views. I hope that today's yoga and chat help you feel empowered to do so. Sending you so much love and gratitude for joining and donating today," she continued.
If you're looking for a midday break to release some stress and feel more grounded, Washington's at-home series is the show to tune in to. The practice starts with breathing and stretching, and moves into a series of poses. The 50-minute video includes standing poses as well as downward dog, tree pose, and Shavasana, followed by a chat between the former "Scandal" stars.
Do try to keep your focus on the yoga (and the good cause), though it's hard not to fixate on Washington's very green backyard. Bathed in sunlight with healthy flowering plants and luscious grass, it's the perfect place to do some stretching and breathing.
