Firefighters tackle late night hospital blaze in South Lanarkshire

Firefighters were last night tackling a blaze at a hospital in South Lanarkshire.

Three fire engines went to the scene at University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, after the alarm was raised at 9.45pm on Thursday.

The crews extinguished the blaze, which was on the first floor of the building, and left the scene after making it safe.

There were no reports of any injuries.

University Hospital Hairmyres has beds for 492 patients and a busy A&E department which covers parts of Lanarkshire.
