The future depicted in old sci-fi shows and futuristic films might well be here, as Covid-19 continues to inspire creativity despite the chaos.

A TORONTO-based company has come up with a new design for a face-mask which looks like it belongs in zero-gravity rather than the streets of earth.

The modified space helmet was launched by VYZR Technologies in April following a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

In what was One Giant Leap for… the company, they managed to raise nearly $800,000, with each of its BioVYZR helmets costing $250.

Features of the helmet include:

  • Anti-fog windows
  • A low-volume, battery-powered cooling fan
  • Hospital grade air-purifiers

There are also reversible gloves that allow you to touch your face.

The extravagant helmet, which trumps the recommended N95 mask in terms of size, and prize, fits over a fitted neoprene vest with adjustable straps.

The mask is perfect for "crowded public spaces, school and university classrooms, work, meetings and the office," according to the company.

The Covid-19 panic has meant that the mask is currently sold out, however, the company is now preparing new stock to ship at the end of September.
