The third vice president of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has appealed for unity of action in the face of the economic and social crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The diagnosis of the situation is shared, as well as the recipes to face it. It is more what unites Spanish society than what separates it and that should also be reflected in politics. This is the moment for unity, to pitch in" she said in a speech at the Spanish Chamber of Commerce
The Presidents of BBVA, Banco Santander, HP, Iberdrola, Indra and Telefónica supported the proposals of the Vice President of the Government to face the economic crisis.
Calviño underlined the fundamental role that the Chambers of Commerce – which she has asked for collaboration in this stage of reconstruction – should play in the process of digital transformation and in the internationalisation, particularly of SMEs.
"The digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies constitutes the most important structural reform that lies ahead and we have to accelerate and intensify it exponentially", Calviño stressed.
The president of the Chamber of Spain, José Luis Bonet, has reiterated the willingness of companies to collaborate with the Government to overcome the crisis explained the role that the Chamber could play to ensure so that European aid reaches the neediest sectors.
"We have to face the situation with decision, courage, determination and vision for the future, without leaving anyone behind, looking after people, the companies that are the key to recovery, the creation of employment and the growth of the economy" he said.
