Everything you need to know to keep the children entertained

With the whole family being at home, keeping everyone entertained can be a hard task, especially your kids. To help with this, we have come up with a few ways to make staying at home fun and you can even join in too!

The first activity is a firm favourite for many children and even some adults…den building. All you need is a bed sheet, lots of pillows and a bit of imagination. From sofas, to bunk beds, and even cardboard boxes, you can use anything for the base of the structure. Once built they can be used to watch films, tell stories or even have a nap. The beauty of this activity is children can get as creative as they want!

Another way to keep the kids entertained is to join a craft club. Hobbycraft have moved their craft club online and have a post that is entirely focused on kids. Every day on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter at 11am, they release a new craft activity to do for the day surrounding a certain theme e.g. space. Check out their pages here and get those creative juices flowing.

Turn your kitchen into your very own bake-off tent and let your children have a go at a new recipe. Every week The Big London Bake team are sharing three baking lessons from home for you to follow along at home too. All the recipes use everyday ingredients and standard baking equipment and are on the Facebook and Instagram channels. See their latest bake here.

Next up, a good old-fashioned treasure hunt. This might involve a little more work for the parents, but the results will be worth it! Hide clues and prizes around the home and set the kids off on a magical tour. You could even take this to the next level and turn it into a scavenger hunt, asking them to find odd and fun items that might be lying around the house. For example, a coin from a certain year.

Finally, keep your children active whilst at home. Cosmic kids is an online platform that exists solely to keep your children entertained. They have several videos for kids to learn some yoga, watch fun videos and listen to stories – all you need to do is have a search through and see what takes their fancy. Who knows, they might find a new skill!
