A man and a child were wounded in a shooting in a residential neighborhood in Baldwin Hills on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The gunfire was first reported about 5 p.m. in the 4100 block of Somerset Drive, according to Los Angeles Police Department and Fire Department officials.

Police were searching for three male suspects who fled the scene on foot following the shooting, Officer Mike Lopez said. One of them was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Both victims were taken to hospitals for treatment. Both were listed in stable condition, Lopez said.

A neighbor described the victims as a father and child, but officials could not confirm their relationship.

Police described the victims as a man in his 30s and a 6-year-old girl.

No further details, including a motive in the shooting, were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.
