Clients can expect an entirely bespoke process, from the first sketch, selecting individual finishes in each space, to the final handover. “We’re interested in our clients’ lives and therefore we’re inviting clients to commission myself and my team to handcraft their new apartment,” Rob says.

Architect Rob Mills conceptualises great living. Be it in his own home in Armadale or the Ocean House in Lorne, each project reflects an aspirational location and living experience, to a superior standard of design. “I want to be able to bring the same level of care to the apartments, Hampden by RMA, that we bring to the individual residences we create, that I’ve created for years,” Rob says. “Hampden by RMA allows me to do this.”
RMA is a holistic practice, combining architecture, interiors styling, branding, and marketing, project management and construction administration under the same roof. This in-house procurement allows the design integrity throughout the construction process, while delicately balancing the client’s vision.
The nine residences reveal signature Rob Mills accents; arched openings, curvaceous motifs, and natural materials. Each apartment features an expansive kitchen, dining and living spaces, and two large bedrooms with ensuites and built-in robes, as well as a master bedroom suite with walk-in robe and master en suite. As in his own home, Rob has prioritised healthy living, for example, organic and low-VOC paints, glues, natural light within.
Armadale is where Rob Mills calls home, so naturally, the architect is attune with the locale’s character. This is engrained in the design of Hampden by RMA, through its arched features and brick facade, drawing maximum light within each deeply-set residence.

“Hampden’s architecture is unique; it looks different, it has a rich history of architecture embedded within the design,” Rob says. “It’s gentle, it’s peaceful; Hampden couldn’t have been created anywhere else. It truly reflects the environment that it sits within.” Rob is also not shy to admit the area’s close proximity to Melbourne’s best cafes, fashion, and schools. “It’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to build on this great land,” he says. “That privilege needs to be respected.”
