Japanese design embodies something enchanting and sophisticed. Throughout history, Japanese design seems to have been elaborate, refined, serene and reduced to the core of functionality and aesthetics. With this design DNA and values, Karimoku Case Study is a contemporary lifestyle brand based in Japan and born out of admiration and love for serenity, natural materials and a timeless appeal. The Case Study collections are brought to life by leading architects through individual cases. The first collection is designed by Keiji Ashizawa Design and the famous team of Norm Architects from Copenhagen.

“Real, honest and quality materials touch us on a deeper level, and thoughtful design last a lifetime. That’s our goal with this brand and collaboration; to reconnect with nature through materials, and to create designs that last”, says the Norm Architects team.

As Japan’s leading manufacturer of wooden furniture, Karimoku has a strong focus on quality. Their knowledge and genuine love for wood is reflected in their uncompromising production methods and remarkable attention to detail. Looking at their furniture pieces, you feel almost like you are touching them with your eyes. This metamorphosis of senses brought to us through imagery in incredible. When you look at that lounge chair, don’t you feel like your hands are gliding over the arm rest, feeling the smooth wood and the leather with your fingertips?

Traveling to Japan has been on my wishlist for like ever. And Japanese design is certainly one of the crucial factors that makes me want to visit this intriguing country. Hopefully one day – but until then, enjoy the wonderful designs from Karimoku.
