THERE’S A HUMMUS SUPPERCLUB COMING TO DALSTON

We at LOTI love hummus. Our fridges are always readily stocked with a few tubs and lately we’ve even been making our own from scratch. If you share our passion for chickpeas you’ll be very interested in ANAN, a new supperclub centred around humble hummus that’s appearing at Allpress Dalston in March.

If the idea of an old hummus supperclub isn’t exciting enough, just wait until you hear who’s behind it. ANAN has been founded by Eyal Jagermann, original co-founder and head chef of The Barbary, only one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in London. And joining him is Executive Chef Tomer Hauptman (ex-Palomar) and Zoe Tigner-Haus (ex-River Café) who will run front of house. Safe to say, this won’t be any old hummus, and there’ll be plenty more to enjoy too.

Highlights include Medjool Confit Beetroot with Dukkah, Matbucha – a Moroccan dip made of spiced red peppers and tomatoes;  Golden Cauliflower served Jaffa style; and Slow Roasted Kholrabi with Cured Lemon Chimichurri. Sharing deserts include ANAN’s own style of Malabi, a Middle Eastern pudding, made using coconut cream and served with persimmon, rose water syrup, toasted coconut flakes and dried rose petals.

Tickets are priced at £33 and will include an Arak cocktail that combines Limonana, rose petals and coriander seeds, plus the full menu with desserts.

CARAVAN IS CELEBRATING ITS 10TH BIRTHDAY – FOR 10 MONTHS

We’ve all tried to stretch out our birthdays for a few extra days at some point but we’ve never seen anyone keep the party going for months before. Well props to Caravan which is celebrating its 10th birthday with a 10 month celebration of special brews, events and giveaways.

Kicking off on Monday 17th February, Caravan’s official birthday, you’ll have chance to have a spin of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ at any Caravan restaurant. Created especially for the occasion, prizes include Caravan swag, plus free cocktails, coffee and cornbread and the chance to get 50% off your bill. Also launching on the 17th is a specially created croissant that takes inspiration from a dessert on the original opening menu from 2010. On sale exclusively at Caravan To Go (Fitzrovia) the twice-baked coconut rice pudding with caramelised banana croissant will be available for a month – we’ve tried this and can confirm it is an absolute banger.

Further down the line there will be some great supperclubs. On March 17th, chef and author Peter Gordon and wine expert Melanie Brown will join Miles at Caravan King’s Cross for a very special dinner – both Miles and Melanie worked with Peter at The Providores so this is a reunion of sorts. You can get tickets for that here. Next up after that will be Margot Henderson (Rochelle Canteen) and her husband Fergus Henderson (St. John), teaming up for one night only at Caravan Bankside.

Caravan will also be hiding ten ‘Tin Tickets’ (tin being the traditional ten-year anniversary present) across packs of its popular Special Bru coffee. Available to purchase from 17th February at Caravan restaurants and wholesale accounts, anyone that finds a ‘Tin Ticket’ in their bag of coffee will win free coffee for a year.

Caravan really is going to town for its 10th birthday and there’s more to come so stay tuned for more announcements further down the line.
