Nine tube stations and four Overground stations are ‘wearing’ poppies to mark Remembrance Day and London Poppy Day.
The tradition of the commemorative roundels began in 2018 and has proved popular with Londoners, although fewer will get to appreciate them this year, with non-essential travel off the cards.
This Sunday (8 November) marks Remembrance Sunday, while Wednesday (11 November) is Remembrance Day — a time to remember and thank those who’ve died in the line of duty. London Poppy Day was on 29 October.
The full list of stations where this year’s roundels are is: Balham (Northern line, northbound); Bounds Green (Piccadilly line, southbound); Bethnal Green (Central line, westbound); Colindale (Northern line, southbound); Baker Street (Bakerloo line, southbound); London Bridge (Jubilee line, eastbound); Canary Wharf (Jubilee line, westbound); King's Cross (Hammersmith & Circle/Metropolitan line, eastbound); Westminster (District line, eastbound); Forest Hill; Shepherd’s Bush; Walthamstow Central; and Willesden Junction.
Instead of going to see them this year, though, why not enjoy these photos then donate to the Royal British Legion or buy something from the Poppy Shop online. Your money goes to support veterans, Forces personnel and their families — with aid ranging from bereavement support to homelessness.
Last year, we visited the factory in Richmond where around six million poppies are made by hand each year.
