Mazarrón celebrated youth week in wet fashion with organised water activities aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 35-years-old.
INTERNATIONAL Youth Day fell on August 12, but during the week of August 11-15, a variety of activities were held by the Youth Council, with the Mayor of the area, Silvia García, at the helm.
The activities, with all the Covid-19 safety and hygiene measures in place, began on the morning of Tuesday, August 11 with a diving activity, while in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 12, a kayak activity was carried out and on Thursday, August 13, diving was repeated.
This amazing event, which will only serve to boast local moral following a difficult year, was finished off with on Friday August 14, with sailing in the morning and paddle surfing in the afternoon, before drawing to a close on Saturday, August 15 with some more sailing.
The activities have been carried out thanks to the collaboration of the 'Grímpola' Sailing School, the Southeast Diving Center 'Bachisub', Bahía Surf School and the company 'Cetaceans and Navigation'.
The week experienced great participation, with places for all the activities running out in very short time, proving that aquatic sports are a big hit in the area.
The Mayor of the area, Silvia García, wanted to thank "the participation and commitment that young people showed in all the activities, that we organised exclusively for them."
"The Youth Council are committed to strengthening the youth associative fabric, participation and socialising, and with this promote training and employment," he added.
Silvia García, concluded that "This year, the theme of the International Youth Day has been celebrated under the motto "Commitment of the youth for global action". With this motto we have sought to highlight the forms of commitment of young people at the local, national and global levels".
The Youth Council of Mazarrón appears to be proactively encouraging sports and health among young people by providing healthy alternatives for leisure and free time.
