Fun fact: The subject of cookware sets can be a little controversial. On one hand, a multi-piece set is a worthy investment for equipping a kitchen for the first time or if you want a totally uniform look. But what if you already have a go-to frying pan or Dutch oven, and just need a few pieces to round out your cooking arsenal? Well, you're in luck: Caraway, makers of one of our favorite, non-toxic, non-stick cookware sets, just announced that their four key pieces can now be purchased à la carte! That means you can pick and choose any of their gorgeous, ceramic-coated pots and pans, and slowly build your own unique collection.

As a proud owner of a Caraway set, it's worth mentioning that the DTC brand doesn't make awkwardly sized pieces. They've done the research, and only offer the essentials; namely, a 10.5-inch fry pan, a 3-qt. saucepan, a 4.5-qt. sauté pan, and a 6.5-qt. Dutch oven. While the entire set will run you $395, the individual pieces are priced between $95 and $135. And when it comes to quality, there's truly a lot to love. For starters, rather than Teflon, Caraway uses non-toxic ceramic that's safe and easy to cook with. Even the pan exteriors and both sides of the tight-fitting lids are made using this material, which makes cleanup breezy and gives every piece a beautiful, modern look.

If you're wondering which piece to try out first, Faith Durand, the editor-in-chief of AT's sister site, Kitchn, particularly loved the skillet and Dutch oven that have a "classy, elegant feel," especially when topped with the handsome lid that fits both pieces. "They are heavy and heat evenly," she says of the cookware. "And the nonstick performance is somewhere between a true nonstick skillet and a regular pan."
