TAVOLINO TO OPEN IN LONDON BRIDGE

Louis Korovilas, ex-Head Chef at Bancone and ex-Locanda Locatelli before that, is heading up the kitchen of another Italian restaurant Tavolino, opening where Strada used to be by Potter’s Field Park. That means you’ll get excellent views over the river and Tower Bridge from the two-floor restaurant.

Tavolino will focus on simple dishes made using carefully sourced produce from Italy and the UK. Expect dishes like fried mussels with bagna cauda; Sicilian chickpea fritters with whipped anchovy; silk handkerchief pasta with walnut butter and egg yolk (the signature dish from Bancone); tagliatelle with spicy ‘nduja and pork ragu; sourdough pizzas; sea bream with agrodolce salad; and beef short rib with polenta.

Pastry chef Taylor Sessegnon-Shakespeare will be baking fresh breads, like honeyed garlic focaccia and olive and parmesan rolls, as well as turning out puds including balsamic vinegar chocolate mousse, Amalfi lemon meringue and skillet polenta cake served with caramelised white chocolate ice cream.
