Street signs aren't usually the stuff of Instagram adoration, but this one's clocked up 80,000 views on our account.
The triplicated sign of Berners Place — an otherwise unremarkable cul-de-sac — can be found off Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia.
There can be only one explanation for the multiple street names. This is a migrating sign. It started high up, but has slowly seeped downwards, leaving occasional impressions of itself on the journey. We calculate that it migrates about 3cm per decade, and will reach the pavement sometime around the year 2350.
The facing wall also carries a pair of 'Berners Place' signs. That's five within the space of two metres, which would surely make the Guinness Book of Street Oddity Records, if such a book were ever published (and it should be).
