10 things to do this weekend

If you missed out (read: forgot about) celebrating V-Day yesterday, there are plenty of ways you can make up for it this weekend like going for bottomless bevs and blending nut butter. It’s also London Fashion Week, so make it a super stylish one by checking out some handbags, getting some new jewellery and all these other things to do in London this weekend.

1. The Love Lab by Pip & Nut

Pip & Nut is popping up in Shoreditch with the Love Lab, where you can blend your very own bespoke peanut or almond butter, adding in aphrodisiacs like strawberries and chilli to vanilla and goji berries, and then decanting it into a personalised jar. Pip & Nut will be spreading the love by gifting a jar of peanut butter to Hackney Foodbank for every special Love Lab jar made. You’ll also be able to get ready-made jars of Pip & Nut peanut butter personalised at the pop-up.

2. Mulberry | Made to Last

This London Fashion Week Mulberry is letting you in behind the scenes with Made to Last, a programme of events inside the Bond Street store featuring an immersive installation, workshops, industry talks (including one with Creative Director Johnny Coca) and a pop-up Pophams cafe. The installation will feature a recreation of Mulberry’s carbon-neutral Somerset factories, so you’ll be able to watch the new sustainable leather Portobello Tote being made and see how the brand is committed to responsible luxury. The pop-up will also be home to the Mulberry Exchange, where you can browse a selection of pre-restored bags and have your own bag appraised, with the chance to put the value towards a new purchase.

3. Shop at Grown & Thrown

A plants and ceramics market is coming to Dalston were you can shop from a range of cacti, succulents and other house plants, and then find the perfect pot or planter for them to live in. The pots will be produced by a range of artists, including many that exhibit at the Independent Ceramics Market, and there’ll also be a range of one-off collab pieces available illustrated by artists that show at the DIY Art Market, including Babek Ganjei, Maria Midttun, Holly St Clair and Emma Unwin. It’s proven that plants make you happy so finding the ideal plant and pot combo is sure to make you feel even better. And this market comes just in time for V-Day, so you can forget a bargain bouquet from a petrol garage and gift a nice plant instead.

4. ME London x Lark & Berry Piercing Pop-Up

London Fashion Week is will be rolling into town and to celebrate, ME London is teaming up with sustainable fine jewellery brand Lark & Berry to open a pop-up shop and piercing parlour. Lark & Berry is known for its cultured diamonds (all sustainably sourced and conflict-free), and you’ll be able to shop the range, with free piercings available for every jewel purchased.

5. Drink at the Espresso Martini Society

Espresso Martini Society is coming back to town with its massive martini menu for a V-Day edition, and this time it’s going bottomless. 6. Arm Balances Workshop at BLOK

Shift your perspective and the way you carry yourself with this arm balances workshop at BLOK, where you’ll explore ways to shift the weight from your feet to your hands and challenge yourself to trust in your abilities more. Led by Rachel, this two-hour session begins with a vinyasa flow designed to build strength and encourage mobility, before moving onto drills and partner work to get your core activated, setting you up to try various arm balances.

7. See the James Turrell Exhibition

James Turrell is back at Pace Gallery for his ninth solo show, featuring both archival light works and new pieces that explore the interactions between space, colour and perception. Four new works from his Constellation series will be on display, featuring elliptical and circular shaped animated by LED lights, with the light changes generated by computer programming, creating a transcendental experience.

8. The Nitery by Gizzi Erskine

Gizzi Erskine is popping up at St Martins Lane Kitchen for three months with The Nitery, inspired by the bohemian restaurants that popped up in Paris and Atlantic City in the early 20th century. The menu will showcase Gizzi’s take on French, American and British food, with dishes including devilled eggs with roast chicken crackling; oysters with yuzu kosho granita; iced roast beetroot & buttermilk soup with raw red prawn; steak tartare with bone marrow dripping on marmite toast; flagoelet dauphinoise with goat cutlets; Calasparra rice with woodfired shellfish; and chocolate mousse with Horlicks cream. On Sundays, The Nitery will serve up a roast complete with a carvery station, a dessert trolley and a cheese trolley.

9. Secret Theatre Presents The Invitation

After running shows all over the world and selling out their previous London show Code 2024, Secret Theatre Project is back in town with The Invitation. Billed as ‘Eyes Wide Shut Meets SE7EN’, the new immersive theatre show is running at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green. The show summons you into a world of murder, mystery and mayhem. Upon arrival you need to relay the secret password you received on booking before you’re instructed to don your disguises and enter the Masquerade Party, where debauchery reigns but everything is not as it seems. Whilst characters roam the room and slip you clues to help solve the mystery, make sure you have your wits about you because you don’t want to end up on the wrong side of the murderer.
