The Extremely Rare Omega “1957 Trilogy” Set

In 1957 Omega released 3 professional pieces. These pieces became classics. The Omega Seamaster, Speedmaster and Railmaster. Last year, in 2017, Omega paid tribute to these classics to celebrate the 60th year anniversary, by releasing 3557 limited pieces of each model and offering 557 unique opportunities to purchase the 3 watches together in a special box set.

These re-edition watches are visually identical to the original pieces. The biggest difference between the original pieces from 1957 and the modern ones is the upgrade in the movement and the use of higher-specification modern materials such as sapphire crystal glass. But let’s take a step back and look into these watches individually…

Omega Speedmaster 1957 Trilogy edition

The “Broad Arrow” was the first Speedmaster. Not only does it boast that heritage, but Omega also states that this model was the first one with the Tachymeter painted on the outside bezel and not on the inside dial. The movement is the 1861 manual winding movement - the same one you will find in the modern Speedmaster professional pieces. The watch sits very comfortably on the wrist with the case size of 38.6mm and 19mm between the lugs. The dial has a lovely vintage touch with the “tropical” dial. Vintage orangey-colour aged indices filled with Super-LumiNova. The glass is hesalite crystal with an Omega logo engraved in the middle. The case and the bracelet are brushed and polished. Put everything together and you really feel as though you are wearing a piece of vintage art on your wrist. It is a true sports watch that you can wear on a daily basis.

Omega Railmaster 1957 Trilogy edition

The Railmaster was originally designed for engineers and other professionals working close to magnetic fields. The modern piece, thanks to the master chronometer Co-Axial calibre 8806 movement, is anti-magnetic to 15,000 Gauss. The glass is scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment and an Omega logo is engraved in the centre of the crystal. The case is 38mm with 19mm lug to lug size. The dial is “tropical” style with aged hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova.

Omega Seamaster 1957 Trilogy edition

This Seamaster has everything going for it. A very comfortable 39mm case size with 19mm lugs, Stainless steel case and bracelet with aluminium bezel. The glass is sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and an Omega logo engraved in the centre of it. The movement is the Master Chronometer Co-Axial calibre 8806. This movement is anti-magnetic to 15,000 Gauss. The case back is engraved with the original Seahorse and on the crown you can find the Naïad sign which back in 1957 meant that the watch boasted exceptional water resistance.  The dial is “tropical” style with vintage orangey-colour Super-LumiNova.

Omega really made an effort when they designed these perfect tributes to the heritage classics. When you own one of these pieces you have the best of both worlds, the modern watch with a vintage touch.

The Omega Trilogy set is extremely hard to come by and it is a real collector’s dream. There are only 557 of them worldwide and just 23 Omega trilogy sets were allocated to the UK, so you can imagine how rare it is to find one. The set comes with an extra travel case and 3 leather and 3 NATO straps and of course a very hand tool to help you to change the straps around. It is our privilege to have one of these sets in store and to offer it for sale. The set is available for view and for purchase in our Harrogate store.
